Isaiah 49:1-7 BSB Listen to Me, O islands; PAY ATTENTION, O distant peoples: The LORD called Me from the womb; from the body of My mother He named Me. (2) He made My mouth like a sharp sword; He hid Me in the shadow of His hand. He made Me like a polished arrow; He hid Me in His quiver. (3) He said to Me, “You are My Servant, Israel, in whom I will display My glory.”
(4) But I said, “I have labored in vain, I have spent My strength in futility and vanity; yet My vindication is with the LORD, and My reward is with My God.”
Philippians 2:1-11 BSB Therefore if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, (2) then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being united in spirit and purpose. (3) Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. (4) Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. (5) Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus:
(6) Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, (7) but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. (8) And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross. (9) Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, (10) that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, (11) and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Isaiah 42:3-4 BSB “A bruised reed He will not break and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice. (4) He will not grow weak or discouraged before He has established justice on the earth. In His law the islands will put their hope.”
Isaiah 60:1-3 BSB Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. (2) For behold, darkness covers the earth, and thick darkness is over the peoples; but the LORD will rise upon you, and His glory will appear over you. (3) Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
Isaiah 61:1-3 BSB The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners, (2) to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of our God’s vengeance, to comfort all who mourn, (3) to console the mourners in Zion— to give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise for a spirit of despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.
Isaiah 62:1-3 BSB For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep still, until her righteousness shines like a bright light, her salvation like a blazing torch. (2) Nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You will be called by a new name that the mouth of the LORD will bestow. (3) You will be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, a royal diadem in the palm of your God.
Romans 15:8-13 BSB For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised on behalf of God’s truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs, (9) so that the Gentiles may glorify God for His mercy. As it is written: “Therefore I will praise You among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to Your name.” (10) Again, it says: “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people.” (11) And again: “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and extol Him, all you peoples.” (12) And once more, Isaiah says: “The Root of Jesse will appear, One who will arise to rule over the Gentiles; in Him the Gentiles will put their hope.”
(13) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
