1. Palm Sunday (Part 1)

  1. Zechariah 9:9 BSB  Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Today we follow Jesus into Jerusalem. By this time there was a large crowd with him. They were excited about the miracle of the raising Lazarus from the dead. They could see that he was the King who was coming to rescue them, they believed from the hands of the Romans.

Oh, and the Pharisees were not at all happy about this uprising. Jesus was now too popular. How would their plot to kill him come about?

But Jesus didn’t come as a conquering king at that time. He came as a servant King, humble and riding on a young donkey – certainly not a kingly way. But this was prophesied in Zechariah. Those who were paying attention would have realised it.
