Part 1/6 – Who Was this Man?
PART1-6. WHO WAS THIS MAN?
* The Genealogy of Jesus Christ (Matt 1:1-17; Luke 3:23-38)
* The Word Became Flesh (John 1:1-18)
This video illustrates the childhood of Jesus in relation to the Temple in Jerusalem, as detailed in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 2. It depicts the presentation of Jesus as an infant in the temple, an encounter with Simeon the prophet and Anna the prophetess who were waiting for the Messiah, and then years later the 12 year old Jesus returning to the temple.
Two videos that compare two narratives of Jesus’ birth. In the Gospel of Matthew, Joseph is reassured by God through a dream to marry Mary and name their son Jesus, who will save people from their sins. The Gospel of Luke narrates the decree of Caesar Augustus for a census, prompting Joseph and pregnant Mary’s journey to Bethlehem, where Jesus is born. Angels announce his birth to nearby shepherds, who visit and rejoice. Both accounts emphasize divine intervention and fulfillment of prophecies, highlighting the significance of Jesus’ birth as the Saviour.
PART1-4: THE BIRTH OF THE MESSIAH
* Jesus is born (Matt 1:18-25; Luke 2:1-7)
*The Shepherds and the Angels (Luke 2:8-20)
* Baby Jesus Dedicated at the Temple (Luke 2:21-38)
* The Wise Men visit (Matt 2:1-12)
* Escaping Herod (Matt 2:13-18)
The content discusses an angel’s announcement to Mary about the birth of Jesus, highlighting her faith and praise. It also introduces John the Baptist, who would herald Jesus as the Messiah. The message encourages listeners to rethink their idea of greatness from God’s perspective. This teaching, part of a series on Luke’s Gospel by Skip Heitzig from Calvary Albuquerque, offers deep reflections on these biblical events and their implications for modern faith.
Zechariah had been struck dumb after the encounter with the angel in the temple, where the angel said his wife who was barren was going to bare a child. He was told his name was to be John. After the miracle happened and the baby was born, they brought him to the temple to dedicate him to the Lord. Zachariah still could not speak, and when it came to naming the boy, everyone assumed he would be called Zachariah, or something similar. But Zachariah asked for a writing tablet and he wrote, “His name is John.” His mouth was opened…

Mary’s Prophecy – Luke 1:51-55 ”He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He has put down princes from their thrones. And has exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things. He has sent the rich away empty.”He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy, As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his offspring forever.” Check out Mary’s prophecy. Jesus was most likely still in the embryonic stage here, and she says that through this immaculate conception: Other Scriptures: Psalms…
